Juvenile Sex Offenders: From Victim to Victimizer?
Can past childhood sexual abuse predict whether an individual will sexually abuse a child in the future? In 1993 the Juvenile and Court Journal published a report reflecting the revised report from the National Task Force on Juvenile Sexual Offending.[1] This report identified 38 issues that may be considered in a comprehensive assessment of possible juvenile offenders.
In the first half of the workshop, the typologies and risk factors for juvenile sex offenders will be reviewed. In addition, the question of whether a victim of childhood sexual abuse becomes a victimizer will be explored.
In the second half of the workshop, the presenter will review special considerations involved in the management and supervision of juvenile sex offenders.
